Simon Cryer FCA
Simon has worked for the firm all his professional life and has been a partner since 1976. Before becoming an accountant he was trained in the hotel and restaurant business and now combines these skills with his professional work and is an expert advisor to many London restaurants. He defines his speciality as having “no speciality” preferring to give wide-ranging advice to clients whilst servicing specialist skills from the other departments of the firm. He says: “I find clients prefer to regard an individual as their accountant rather than a series of different names from within a faceless organisation.” His greatest success story he regards as servicing capital for a group of university leavers setting up as media designers and requiring significant technical equipment. “They had been turned down by the bank but we were able to source the funds from another bank, on the basis of our reputation and support for the client”. That company now runs a substantial business, with a 30% net return.
