Corporate tax planning and compliance

Understanding and planning your tax strategies

Taxation is a matter of interest to all. The Brebners specialist tax department is geared to deal with all aspects of personal and company taxation including inheritance tax and VAT. The high quality of our tax department, which includes Chartered Accountants and those with extensive experience within the HM Revenue and Customs, means that we can provide a full tax service to our clients.

Our high reputation is such that other professional firms consult us on a wide variety of tax matters.

Our tax department is headed up by Tom Smith and Brian Mulholland who are assisted by a number of experienced tax professionals.  The tax department deals with all matters within the firm ranging from compliance through to specialised tax projects including advising tax efficient fund raising, MBOs, tax investigations etc.

Whilst VAT compliance is dealt with by the accounts department, technical VAT matters are dealt with by the tax department. Our tax professionals do, of course, work closely with other departments of the firm to ensure that clients receive a personalised, bespoke service.

Tax is a crucial consideration in corporate and personal decisions. We advise in detail on the tax implications of any particular course of action so that pitfalls are avoided. These range from the special requirements of the self-employed to complicated inheritance tax plans or advice on group company structures.

We plan and implement the strategy that is right for you taking into account all recent developments in law and practice. Continuing changes in legislation often provide opportunities to reduce tax liabilities and of course some changes result in an increased tax burden unless appropriate action is taken.
